The Shelton
cottage is an excellent example of an 18th Century working man's cottage.
The cottage is normally closed to the general public.

Spotsylvania Court House Spotsylvania Court House
The Spotsylvania Courthouse
is the center point of the Spotsylvania Historic District. Highlights of
this area are the battered but reconstructed court house, the Spotsylvania
County Museum, the Spotswood Inn, a Confederate cemetery, an old jail and
Christ Episcopal Church. Some of the buildings bear scars from the Civil
War fighting there in 1864.

stopping place due to it's location, this inn also served as an observation
post for Robert E. Lee during his battles at Spotsylvania.

The St. James
house is a 1760's cottage, furnished with elegant English/American antiques.
Built by James Mercer, a lawyer and an active citizen in Fredericksburg
during the Revolutionary era. His home was named in honor of the street
on which he lived in Dublin Ireland. More
