Items displayed in this
18th and 19th century "drugstore" are silver plated pills and hand blown
glass jars painted from the inside. Operated as a medical apothecary shop,
with medicine and treatments of the 18th century. The building was recently
dated by scientific means between 1771 and 1772. More

George Washington Masonic

The George
Washington Masonic Lodge Museum is home to many Masonic artifacts, to include
a bible of George Washington, a lock of George Washington's hair, an original
portrait of George Washington painted by Gilbert Stuart and the interior
doorway from the original lodge. The lodge was built in 1814-15 and the
front was extended 20 feet to its current location. More

Herndon

Built in 1820,
and moved to its current location in 1956, where it served as home to
the Historic Fredericksburg Information Center. This building was originally
part of the old Herndon Estate (now the National Bank of Fredericksburg.
Currently the building is home to Nationwide Insurance. More

Monroe Museum and Memorial Library 908 Charles St.
Fredericksburg
James Monroe
first practiced law in Fredericksburg and many of his things are preserved
here. The museum, situated on property that Monroe owned 1786-92, is filled
with personnel memorabilia and furnishings of the Monroe family, of which
many pieces were bought in Paris, France while he served as an emissary.
