The area has four major
Battlefields to offer. All of the battlefields are run by the National
Parks Service and for $4.00 a person, you can get a 7 day pass to tour
all the parks. The battlefields are all part of the Fredericksburg - Spotsylvania
National Military Park. More

The Fredericksburg
Battlefield is spread out across a large portion of the Fredericksburg
City limits and the County of Spotsylvania. The battlefield is the site
of fierce fighting between the North and South, the battlefield includes
Marye's Heights, Sunken Road, Prospect Hill, Meade's Pyramid, Hamilton's
Crossing, the National Cemetery and much more. More

Chancellorsville
Battlefield Route 3, less than 10 miles
west of Fredericksburg.
Chancellorsville
battlefield is where the Confederate troops won the battle, but the famous
General "Stonewall" Jackson was fatally wounded. This is one of the largest
Battlefields in the local area and has much to see. The park offers self
guided walking and auto tours. Either tour can be taken with the aid of
a map or audio tape. More

The Spotsylvania
Courthouse battlefield includes, The Bloody Angle, Harris Farm, Todd's
Tavern and more. This battlefield is a popular place within the County
of Spotsylvania for joggers, walkers and bikers. It is quietly tucked away
from the noise of the Interstate, and the rush of the City. Enjoy walking
through several historical Civil Ware trails, viewing trenches, monuments,
ruins and the wildlife. More

Battlefield State Route 20 in Orange
County
The site of
the first confrontation between Generals Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant.
the date was May 5-7, 1864, when 101,895 of Grant and Meade's soldiers
confronted 61,025 of Lee's soldiers. When the dust finally settled 29,800
soldiers were laying dead on the battlefield. Though much of the Battlefield
is located within Spotsylvania County, the official main entrance is in
Orange County. More
