We arrived on a Friday night, so we opted to enjoy an appetizer at the bar while waiting.  Those at the bar were friendly considering how busy they were.  Our waiter was also friendly once we were seated.  Would we return again another time?  We haven't yet but plan to.

A good alternative to burgers.  We have found them to be efficient in service and friendliness.

We had been camping with a big day the night before and were looking for a filling breakfast to start our day off with.  Aunt Sarah’s provided us with that!  All 5 of us cleaned the majority of the food off our plates and were ready for another adventure filled day downtown.  We have returned a few times and will again.

The Burger King’s in this area are very good at providing meals “your way”.  They are normally quick and accurate; probably the fastest of the fast food chains in the area.

We arrived at Bob Evan’s at the end of a weeknight dinner rush and were promptly seated.  Not having been to a Bob Evans since I was a child I could only go in with all the expectations that others provide for you.  I must say that it was a very tasty meal and a change to have breakfast for dinner, as we hadn’t done that in a long time.

We were looking for variety and something different the night we ate here.  Cracker Barrel is a place to receive that and with a home cooking flair at that.  When you pull off the interstate for this meal don’t forget to take the time to enjoy a brief rock in one of the rocking chairs out front before you pile back in the car to head to your destination.

We have mixed reactions to dining here.  We have been told to leave our table because “saving tables is not allowed”, even if you’re next in line. Other times we have been there has been pleasant enough.  They do encourage you to request your favorite pizza if it is not available.  They will bring you the requested amount of slices prior to it being placed on the buffet.

We arrived on a Sunday and were encouraged to take advantage of the Buffet as we hadn't been there previously.  At the buffet we found a wide range of food to chose from: seafood, beef, chicken and vegetarian type dishes.  All of us tried something different and all had our own favorites but all agreed that the food was delicious.  The atmosphere was very relaxed and unhurried with just the right touch of encouragement to return to the buffet to sample more.  We never realized our glasses were nearing empty until they were refilled.  Once we finished our meal we were encouraged to sample the desserts available - only 1 of us had room to do so and found those "really good".  This is someplace we'll return to when we feel the need for some good authentic Chinese food!

We have been here a few times and have received prompt and courteous service.  A good change of pace from the burger routine.

What can you say about Chuck E Cheese?  It's a great place to be a kid as they say!  We are usually here to attend parties but that still doesn't change the service - prompt, helpful and courteous.

For us this is a sometimes forgotten place.  When we do remember, we receive courteous service with our orders being correct.

A small restaurant where you can see your food being cooked after you order.  There are not many tables in the place so it may require a wait depending on what time you arrive.  When we were there, there were 2 waitresses and the one really worked hard at keeping all the patrons happy while the other just didn’t seem able to keep up as well.

When we visited here we had company with us, one person wasn’t big on Mexican food but was game to give it a try.  He was surprised with the quality of his food.  All of us had great food and had quite a nice conversation with the (waitress) trainer this night which really helped to make our meal that much more enjoyable.  Will we return?  Of course, it is a great place to have good food in a causal atmosphere.

This is a place that is frequented by a large lunch crowd and that was the case the day we arrived here.  We had an easygoing waitress as the group was in an ornery mood.  She was able to give as good as take the jokes she was given.  All our food was good and prepared as requested.  She was able to give as well as receive the jokes she was given from this ornery group.

We have been here only one time, innocently enough about 15 minutes before closing time.  They waited while we made our selections and quickly cooked it and brought it to us.  It was suprisingly good food and enough to fill all of us up for a reasonable price. 

First off, I will tell you that we are like a lot of the population and have a need for Olive Gardens' pasta.  They don’t offer as much of a variety as Olive Garden but what they do offer is really good.  We did enjoy our dining experience and do plan to return again sometime soon.

A vast majority of the population will agree with me when I say they have the best ice cream in the area.  They don't offer a lot of choices but it is still sometimes difficult to make a decision because everything is so delicious.  My personal favorite, a chocolate ice cream cone .... or is it the slushes without ice cream... or is it the malt?  Can't tell you for certain!

We haven’t been to Chi Chi’s in a few years for the simple reason that when we were there we received extremely poor service.  We followed our ‘golden rule’ of giving them more than once chance but that didn’t matter.  The first time it started out all right, receiving drinks and having our order taken fairly rapidly.  But after that it sort of went down hill, we had to wait for about 30 –45 minutes for our order then wait for our check.  The next time we went we waited 30 minutes just to speak to a waiter to get our drink order taken and receive the chips/salsa.  Then we waited another 30 minutes to place our order despite the promise of I’ll be back in a few minutes.  What we expected to take about an hour for a dining experience turned into a 2 1/2 hour experience.  It would have been understandable if they were busy but there was only one other family there beside ourselves.  Upon completion of our meal we needed to hunt down a person to receive our check to pay for our meal.  We haven’t returned to try again since and don’t really feel the need to, as there are plenty of other restaurants around who wish to have our business. This restaurant is now closed. 

The Courthouse Rd. Dairy Queen is usually the one we go to for our DQ cravings.  They provide sometimes confused service but are quick to correct any mistakes.  It is a definite stop on our list every couple of months.

We arrived here on a late night after a very aggravating and busy day to a waitress who had a kind ear while we vented our frustrations in general.  We received prompt to go service with our order being correct.

We stop in here very occasionally to satisfy our Dunkin Donuts cravings and usually come away dissatisfied.  More often than not we receive rude service or reasons why there are a few select donuts left.  Oh..... to have a Krispy Kreme factory nearby............

The portions were large (and the food was tasty) when we dined there but there wasn’t anything significant going on to make us want to return.  They do offer various happenings during the week.

We have visited here a few times prior to the Massaponax Friendly’s.  The dining experience was nothing special but it satisfied the carvings for Friendly’s ice cream.

We visited here within a few days of its opening and found well-trained and attentive employees.  The food was what you’d expect at a Friendly’s – what made it different was the friendly staff.

Despite the notable people that have visited we found the food not to be anything significant.  We even felt a little like we were inconveniencing the staff by dining there.  Perhaps we’ll have to try again sometime…

A smaller Golden Corral that is not too far down the road from Ponderosa and they are comparable in dining experiences.  We were not impressed with the small size  but I must admit that we probably have high expectations because of the time we lived in southern VA and frequented the large Golden Corral there.

More of the Golden Corral that we have been spoiled with during our time I southern VA.  They have the bakery and potato bar along with an expanded buffet.  When we went they were still reaping the grand opening business but if they hold true to the one we use to frequent it will continue to stay quite busy, especially on the weekends.

On the day we visited it gave us a reason to slow down, even if it was for just a short time.  The food was prepared in front of us quickly and efficiently.

We ate here shortly after the opening and again another time after they had been open for awhile.  The service provided was as you'd expect for a bustling place.

We have been to J Brian’s a few times and have received not over-whelmingly friendly service but they did make sure that we had everything that we needed.  The food there is good so it is worth the dining experience.

The day we went was part of their grand opening in February 2000 so they were busy but we still received excellent service.  The dining area is adequate size for the dining experience and a change from Subway. There are two Jersey Mike's locations in Fredericksburg

We have visited several of the local KFC restaurants. Overall the experience was good, the food was made quickly and properly.

We have been told that this is the place to go for a good alternative to Carl's ice cream.  They do have excellent ice cream but it still doesn't quite live up to Carl's.  The service is very prompt and occasionally the employees can be seen chatting with their customers about whatever may be happening downtown.

We have only ordered pizza from the Courthouse Rd. restaurant, but we are very satisfied with that stores, price, speed and quality of food.

Another steak restaurant in the area with good food and service.  The atmosphere is as the name suggests, Texas style. The staff wasn’t over friendly this night but much better than what it could have been.  The food was all cooked to our satisfaction and our meal was a relaxing experience as it should have been.  Another option for us when we wish to dine out.

There are McDonald’s on just about every corner (20 in the local area). What can your really say about McDonald’s besides they have served billions and provide average service? We have visited most all of the McDonald's restaurants in the local area. Overall the service is very much comparable to what we have seen elsewhere. Probably the smallest and slowest (not to mention the least clean) was the Hilltop Square restaurant. We have visited there on several occasions and have left upset every time.

Depending on when you go you need to plan on a wait, they don’t accept reservations. Generally, they don’t handle large parties without notice and don’t expect any special considerations.  The food is delicious and the portions always leave us with leftovers for the next days lunch.

We have been to Orbits a couple of times on Monday nights (open mike night).  The food is good and there is some really exceptional talent in the area.  It is a place of regulars but everyone is welcome.  The staff is really friendly, taking the time to chat with you and is excellent about stopping by to make sure everything is all right at your table.

We have only been to this Country Buffet one time.  It is smaller than some that we have been in but the food provided on the buffet was always filled to capacity.  The employees that were there that night were constantly in motion, whether they were filling the buffet back up or checking on the diners.

Though a smaller version of what we have been used, it still lived up to the expected Ponderosa dining experience.  How will it do with all the other steak houses cropping up remains to be seen?

We have not been to all the area Pizza Huts but overall they are fast and friendly. The food has been to our liking at all locations. We frequent the Spotsylvania Mall location often, due to the large party room located in the basement.

We have not had pizza delivered from all the area Papa John's restaurants in the area, but the several that we have tried, are very fast, and the order is correct and the food is tasty.

A more upscale Italian restaurant (semi formal) with pleasant staff members. We were offered wine with our meal, in conjunction with our appetizers. A very knowledgeable waiter promptly served all food. The food was well proportioned and served to our liking. Overall it was a good experience.

Our waiter was very patient with us while some of those in our party had a problem making a decision of what to chose.  He chatted with us, as the majority of the party was from out of town, about the area and what were interesting things to see and do while here.

Though we failed to pick the non-smoking restaurant we still had a pleasant dining experience.  The menu is predominately vegetarian with plenty of things to choose from.  We have been to Sammy T’s only one time thus far but it always appears to be quite busy on our visits downtown.  All in all a clean, bustling place for dining.

Normally we stop here if we're in Spotsylvania and feel the craving for ice cream.  They do also offer burgers and such, all made to order.  We've heard rumor that they have the best shakes....We haven't tried them yet however.

We have been to Spanky’s numerous times and only twice have we received poor service.  Spanky’s is one of our favorite restaurants as you can always find something to help pass the time before the food arrives.  The casual atmosphere is laid back with music a little on the loud side for some but can be countered by arriving a little earlier in the day.

*For those who bring their children there are plenty of things to look at while waiting for the food to arrive. Our favorite game to play while waiting is I Spy.

We arrived with a party of 5 but that doesn’t excuse the kitchen staffs blunders.  Not only did they mess up our appetizers but they also neglected to cook our complete order after a very lengthy wait.  The waiter was extremely helpful considering the circumstance he was placed in.  We left with the impression that goofing off and speaking with friends were much more important than teamwork and making the customer happy.  Our dining experience won’t make us want to go back for a second visit any time soon. Perhaps it was the staff that day?
We have friends that have been to Spirits and they have had a pleasant dining experience. 

We have been to various Subways in the area and received quick prompt service.  Use of coupons was difficult the few times we tried them.  We were given a variety of reasons as to why they weren't acceptable.

There are five area Taco Bell restaurants. Overall they are fairly quick in service and the food is good. The Mine Rd. restaurant is normally faster than the others visited.

There are 4 Wendy’s in this area and all are a little on the slow side.  The Stafford (Garrisonville Rd.) Wendy’s provides the best and fastest service.

What can we say about Western Sizzlin’?  When we go it’s to satisfy a steak urge and we are short on time.  We have received decent serve and the food is alright…. Well….until the last time we went.  We received alright serve as you do a lot of the serving for yourself but the steak we received caused us to loose our appetites and we haven’t returned since.  We probably won’t either, especially with the new Golden Corral just down the street.

They had a really nice atmosphere when we visited shortly after their opening.  We ordered simple hamburgers and fries.  Their burgers tasted a little different from a usual burger whether it was the meat or seasoning used couldn’t be determined.  The remainder of our meal however was just fine.  The waiter was polite enough but not overly friendly. They have a club but the restaurant was quiet and clean with a family type atmosphere.  All in all we’d say an average visit. This restaurant is now closed
