The Fredericksburg area is
host to many City and County parks. Regardless if your looking for a quiet
trail for hiking, a covered pavilion for having a family gathering, or
a swing for the children, the area parks have it all. Alum Springs park
in the City of Fredericksburg offers a unique look into the past of the
area, long before the Civil War and long before the Revolutionary War.
Rock, ledges and caves date back during the time when Captain John Smith
explored this area. Hurkamp park also in the City offers a quiet resting
area while walking downtown. Falmouth Waterfront Park offers a public "beach"
for swimming in the Rappahannock River. Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania
offers swimming, boating and fishing on Lake Anna. Loriella Park which
is also in Spotsylvania offers just about everything, from a swimming pool
to wooded walking trails and large play areas for the children. These are
only a few examples of some of the local parks.
