| The Fire and
Rescue Departments serve a county, which is 247 square miles, and home
to over 103,000 citizens. This is accomplished through the use of
a combination volunteer/career workforce which includes approximately 350
volunteers and 21 career personnel. These personnel responded to
over 17,000 emergency responses during 2001. Stafford County is the
4th fastest growing county in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Stafford County VFD operates
10 stations with in the county.
They also have mutual aid
agreements with the neighboring areas to include the City of Fredericksburg.
