The Fredericksburg Fire Department (founded in 1882) serves an area of 17 square miles with a population of approximately 20,500. We currently have two stations that are manned 24 hours a day. We also have mutual aid agreements with the neighboring counties of Stafford and Spotsylvania.

City Fire Truck The Fredericksburg Fire Department is a full service organization. Services include fire safety education, all hazardous emergency preparedness training, and emergency response to fires, emergency medical calls, confined space rescue, water rescue, and hazardous materials incidents.

Additionally, the Fredericksburg Fire Department in partnership with private enterprise provide free smoke detectors, conducts child safety seat training and inspections, sponsors a golf tournament benefiting “Aluminum Cans for Burned Children” of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

We are proud of our personnel and their dedication to enhancing the quality of life of those who live, work or visit our historic city.
