| Look for the
( P ) in property listing. This indicates
that the hotel is pet friendly. Always inquire about the hotels pet policy
when making a reservation. There may or may not be fees and limitations.
Please read on below for more important information on traveling with your
companion.
The important thing to stress
here is that ownership and management do change at some properties, and
so do the pet policies. We encourage the use of our information as a guide
but stress that you should contact the property for a detailed up to date
policy before you reserve. There may be fees involved, special rules, limited
rooms for pets, types of pets or maybe the hotel just changed the policy
yesterday.
Why pet policies?
One of the most common questions
on this topic is, why do hotels have pet policies? This is actually very
easy to answer, being pet lovers ourselves, we fell that our pet is well
mannered and behaved. Unfortunititly there are some pet owners out there
that think that thier little "angle" is well behaved, but it is not. Some
owners allow their pets to chew on the furniture or soil the carpeting.
So hotel managers are faced with a problem, either they allow pets with
restrictions, or they jsut don't allow pets at all.
Some common considerations
for properties are that you are liable for damages. You may be asked for
a credit card to secure payment for possible damage. You should keep your
pet leashed or contained when outside the room at all times. You should
be courteous to neighbors and not leave them unattended in a strange room.
A limit of one pet is common. Make sure you have permission to have more
than one. Weight limits are also common. Deposits and fees are not always
required but they are common. Make sure you know what they are upfront
to avoid nasty surprises on your bill.
